Prof. Michael Kiptoo takes over as KMTC CEO

Prof. Michael Kiptoo has been appointed the new KMTC CEO.

Prof. Kiptoo took over the KMTC mantle on March 1, 2018 in an acting capacity from Mr. Peter K. Tum, who has joined the Ministry of Health as the Principal Secretary.

Before his appointment at KMTC, Prof. Kiptoo was an Associate Professor at the South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) School of Health Sciences in Kitui County.

Prof. Kiptoo holds a doctorate degree and a Master of Science (MSc) in Immunology from Kenyatta University.  He is a member of the Kenya Society of Immunology.

He joins KMTC with a wealth of knowledge in health, gained in more than 17 years he served in various capacities at Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and the South Eastern University.

KMTC will also benefit from his extensive knowledge in research gained in the two institutions; he has conducted and completed several research projects and is currently engaged in many others that are still ongoing. Prof. Kiptoo has also authored and co-authored several peer reviewed publications.
