The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is strengthening its collaboration with the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) to enhance enrolment in the Social Health Authority (SHA) to expand healthcare access for Kenyans.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of the KEMRI Annual Scientific and Health Conference (KASH) on Friday, February 14, 2025, in Nairobi, KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch emphasized the impact of this partnership in promoting public health.

“Through our collaboration, we have witnessed a steady increase in SHA enrolment. We will continue working with KEMRI and other stakeholders to ensure more Kenyans benefit from affordable healthcare,” he said.

Dr. Oluoch further reiterated KMTC’s commitment to working with institutions like-minded institutions like KEMRI to advance Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by leveraging research to inform healthcare policies and services.

“KMTC remains a key consumer of KEMRI’s research outputs, which shape our curriculum development to ensure our training aligns with emerging healthcare needs,” he noted.

Additionally, Dr. Oluoch emphasized the importance of translating research findings into practical solutions that improve community health.

“We will continue collaborating in research, dissemination of information, and ensuring communities can understand and apply research insights to enhance their well-being,” he concluded.
