KMTC signs MoU with Kericho County Government

Board Chairman Prof. Philip Kaloki and CEO Prof. Michael Kiptoo have signed an MoU with Kericho County Governor, H.E Prof. Paul Chepkwony on 3rd April, 2019.

The MoU covers KMTC Kapkatet and Sigowett campuses in Kericho County, and spells out modalities of engagement between the two institutions, to enhance training of health professionals and address the human resource gaps that exist in the County’s health sector.

Speaking during the signing, Governor Chepkwony hailed the move as one that would greatly benefit the County. “ Health being a devolved function, KMTC is critical in supporting County Governments equip their health facilities with the requisite human resource in health,” he said, adding that “My Government will work with the College to strengthen the health systems in Kericho County.”

Prof. Kaloki assured the Governor that “The College is committed in partnering with you to expand medical training opportunities within your County. Our focus is ensuring that we provide quality training and adequate opportunities for qualified Kenyans who want to train as health professionals.”

Echoing the Chairman’s sentiments, CEO Prof. Michael Kiptoo added that “This Memorandum of Understanding provides an opportunity for us to work closely together. The medical facilities that the County Government of Kericho is putting up will enable KMTC enhance the delivery of its mandate in training and research.”

Kericho County Executive Committee member for Health Dr. Shadrach Mutai, County Secretary Mr. Joel Bett, KMTC Board Vice Chairman Eng. David Muthoga, Corporation Secretary Dr. Miriam Muthoka and Principals Ms. Lucy Chebungei (Sigowett) and Mr. Richard Korir witnessed the signing.
