Double Victory for KMTC as the Board Chair and Corporate Secretary Win Top Governance Awards 2025

The curtains have just fallen on the spectacular Champions of Governance Awards (COG) 2025, and Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is celebrating a night of pride, honour, and well-deserved recognition.

Held this evening at the elegant Argyle Grand Hotel, Nairobi Airport, the gala brought together Kenya’s most distinguished leaders and institutions committed to excellence in governance.

Among the brightest stars of the night were two remarkable wins for KMTC, victories that have cemented the College’s place among the nation’s governance champions.

In a moment that drew applause across the ballroom, KMTC Board Chairperson, Mr. Josiah Kiplagat Cheruiyot, was crowned Chairman of the Year 2025. The award recognizes his exceptional leadership, strategic stewardship, and unwavering dedication to strengthening governance, accountability, and institutional transformation at KMTC. Under his guidance, the College has continued to demonstrate strong corporate governance structures, heightened oversight, and a renewed commitment to delivering value to students and stakeholders.

Shortly after, Ms. Caroline Wanjiku Muchina, KMTC’s Corporation Secretary and Manager, Legal Services, walked to the stage to receive the prestigious Corporate Secretary of the Year 2025 Award. Her recognition is a testament to her exemplary leadership in governance processes, legal compliance, institutional integrity, and the seamless coordination of board affairs.

Her win signals the continued rise of professional excellence at KMTC and underscores the institution’s strong internal systems that uphold transparency and ethical leadership.

Tonight’s wins reflect more than individual achievements, they tell the story of an institution that continues to evolve, grow, and commit itself to the highest standards of governance in public service and healthcare education.

The awards were presented at a gala graced by Hon. FCPA Dr. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, EGH, Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development, who celebrated institutions for their role in safeguarding governance excellence across the country.

The KMTC delegation led by CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch, together with Board Chair Mr. Josiah Kiplagat Cheruiyot, Corporate Secretary Ms. Caroline Muchina, and Deputy Registrar Student Affairs Ms. Grace Mwangi, shared in the memorable evening, visibly moved by the institution’s double victory.

As the night draws to a close, KMTC walks away not only with two of the most coveted awards of the evening, but also with renewed inspiration to continue championing governance excellence.

This year’s gala, organized by the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS), will be remembered as the night KMTC stamped its authority in governance leadership, bringing home honours that now belong proudly to the KMTC fraternity.
