
KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch Named African Person of the Year
The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) CEO, Dr. Kelly Oluoch, was named African Person of the Year on Saturday, February 28, 2026, during an awards ceremony in Accra, Ghana.
The award, presented by African Leadership Magazine, recognized Dr. Oluoch for his leadership in advancing healthcare training on the continent.
The recognition aligns with KMTC’s vision of becoming a globally competitive institution in training Human Resources for Health.
Dr. Oluoch received the recognition alongside several distinguished African leaders, including Prime Minister Sam Ntsokoane Matekane of Lesotho, President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana, former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor of Liberia, former President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania, and former President John Agyekum Kufuor of Ghana.
Speaking after receiving the trophy at his office on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Dr. Oluoch, who was awarded in absentia, thanked the organizers for the recognition.
“This award reflects our collective efforts in championing middle-level healthcare training in Kenya and beyond,” he said. “I thank the Board, staff, and students for their dedication and contribution toward this achievement.”
KMTC remains one of the largest trainers of health professionals in the region, attracting students from across Kenya and other parts of the world.
