Over 1,500 Residents Benefit As KMTC Medical Camp Restores Hope In Emurua Dikirr

More than 1,500 residents of Emurua Dikirr Constituency in Narok County received free healthcare services during a three-day medical camp organized by KMTC, reaffirming the College’s commitment to taking quality healthcare closer to communities. The outreach was conducted from June 25 to 27, 2026.

Held at Ilkerin Boys' High School, the outreach provided general consultations, eye care, antenatal care, family planning, cervical cancer screening, HIV testing and counselling, child welfare clinics, laboratory services, treatment, and referrals for specialized care. The camp was spearheaded by KMTC Transmara Campus in collaboration with Emurua Dikirr Sub-County Hospital, with support from staff and students from KMTC Kisii, Bomet, Kapkatet, and Transmara Campuses.

Presiding over the closing ceremony, Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Hon. David Keter commended KMTC for bringing specialized healthcare services to the constituency, saying the outreach had transformed many residents' lives.

“Many of our people rarely have the opportunity to access comprehensive medical services of this nature. This outreach has restored hope to thousands of families, and I commend KMTC, its partners, staff, and students for dedicating their time and expertise to serve our community. My office remains committed to supporting initiatives that expand access to quality healthcare,” said Hon. Keter.

Speaking at the event, KMTC Board Chairman Mr. Joseah K. Cheruiyot thanked residents for their overwhelming turnout and reaffirmed the College's commitment to community service.

“The overwhelming response from this community demonstrates the need to continue taking healthcare services closer to the people. As a College, we remain committed to training competent and compassionate health professionals while serving communities through impactful outreach programmes such as this one,” said Mr. Cheruiyot.

Delivering the Chief Executive Officer's message, Principal Nyamache Campus and Deputy Chairperson of the KMTC Principals' Forum, Mr. Tom Oogo, thanked the residents for embracing the initiative and encouraged young people to pursue careers in healthcare at KMTC.

“This medical camp reflects KMTC's commitment to improving community health while providing our students with opportunities to apply their knowledge in real-life settings. We also encourage Form Four leavers to join KMTC, where we offer more than 120 health training programmes designed to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals,” he said.

Host Principal Ms. Betsy Malel of Transmara Campus expressed appreciation to the community, partners, staff, and students for making the outreach a success.

“The success of this outreach demonstrates the power of partnerships in improving lives. We are grateful for the overwhelming support from the community and remain committed to implementing community-based health initiatives that improve access to quality healthcare,” she said.

During the outreach, healthcare professionals identified a high burden of both communicable and non-communicable diseases. Residents were advised to seek medical care early and continue working closely with Community Health Promoters and nearby health facilities.

Expressing the community's gratitude, one resident, Mr. Richard from Ilkerin, said “We never thought we would ever receive such services in our lifetime. Thank you, KMTC, and please do not forget us.”

Present during the closing ceremony were KMTC Principals: Ms. Alice Ong'era (Bomet), Mr. Richard Korir (Kapkatet), Mr. Joel Rob (Sigowet), Mrs. Alice Wagunda (Nyamache), Ms. Techla Marindany (Narok), and host Principal Ms. Betsy Malel (Transmara), alongside County Government officials, healthcare workers, and community leaders.
