College Seeks to Strengthen Partnership with Equity Bank
The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Ag. Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kelly Oluoch has today (April 4, 2022), held a meeting with a team from Equity Bank to explore avenues of strengthening the partnership between the two institutions.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Oluoch reported that KMTC was keen on collaborating with the financial institution to enhance teaching and learning, in addition to creating an enabling environment that motivates staff to give their best.
“We will seek to establish a partnership that is mutually beneficial to the two organizations as we explore potential collaborations in areas of training, clinical placement, attachment and internships for our students, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and financial aid for our needy students,” Dr. Oluoch said.
Emphasizing financial aid, Dr. Oluoch noted that needy students deserve a chance to pursue their training at the College, noting that access to financial aid would ensure that they are not disadvantaged in accessing education.
He further noted that staff and students would benefit from leadership as well as entrepreneurship training offered by the Equity Group Foundation.
Equity Bank Director of Marketing Mr. David Nyamu announced a donation of 10, 000 tree seedlings to the College as part of its environmental conservation efforts.
On her part, Equity Group Foundation Director Dr. Joan Korir reported that Equity Afia, a network of franchised medical outpatient centres under the Equity Group Foundation with 54 branches is already home to several KMTC alumni who are providing various medical services within the facilities.
In attendance were Equity Head of Health Sector Mr. Peter Gikonyo and Equity Group Foundation Head of Health Mr. Kepha Mutua and Ms. Mary Mwangagi.
Also present were Ag. Deputy Director Finance, Planning and Administration Dr. Ken Riany, Finance Manager Mr. Elijah Mititi, Nairobi Campus Principal Mr. Joseph Ahomo, Head of Resource Mobilization Mr. Kamau Maina and In-Charge Alumni Association Mr. Albert Taiti.
