Head of Public Service Leads Government and Non-Government Organizations in Tree Planting Exercise
The Head of Public Service, Mr. Felix Koskei on Tuesday (June 25, 2024), led a delegation from various government and non-governmental organizations, including the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), in planting 30,000 trees and launching the Manu Chandaria Foundation tree nursery at Konza Metropolis City.
During the launch, Mr. Koskei stated that planting trees symbolizes peaceful unity among different groups.
He echoed President Dr. William Ruto’s commitment to championing the planting of 15 billion trees across the country by 2030, emphasizing the need for every Kenyan to grow and nurture the trees to maturity.
Mr. Koskei added that the tree-planting initiative is part of growing the green economy.
The event was also attended by other notable figures, including Permanent Secretaries Mr. Mugambi Gitonga (Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, State Department for Forestry) and Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui (State Department for Information Communications Technology (ICT) and Digital Economy), CEOs Dr. Kelly Oluoch (KMTC) and Mr. John Okwiri (Konza Metropolitan City), and representatives from the Manu Chandaria Foundation and the Global Peace Foundation.
More than 200 KMTC students from the Nairobi and Machakos campuses, along with staff, participated in the event.
Shortly after the exercise, CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch expressed his happiness for the role the KMTC students and staff have played in achieving the President’s directive.
The CEO pledged full support and promised to lead by example for a successful tree-planting exercise in the College.
