HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS EMPOWERED WITH PATIENT-CENTERED CARE TRAINING

On January 21, 2025, KMTC officially launched a three-day Patient-Centered Care (PCC) Training for healthcare providers from Nairobi County health facilities.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch emphasized that exceptional healthcare goes beyond technical expertise it requires genuine care and compassion.

“People don’t care how much you know, but how much you care,” Dr. Oluoch remarked, underscoring the critical role of empathy in healthcare. He encouraged providers to focus on emotional intelligence and meaningful interactions that leave patients feeling valued and understood.

Highlighting the significance of communication, Dr. Oluoch noted that clear, respectful, and culturally sensitive exchanges are essential for building trust and ensuring patients fully grasp their treatment plans. He urged healthcare workers to prioritize open dialogue and active listening to improve patient experiences.

Dr. Oluoch also announced KMTC’s commitment to empowering communities with basic health knowledge. This initiative aims to equip the public with tools to make informed health decisions and foster preventive care, aligning with KMTC’s mission to create a more compassionate and patient-centered healthcare system.

The event was attended by KMTC’s Deputy Director Academics Dr. Nyawira Mwangi, Deputy Registrar Quality Assurance Ms. Lucy Kuria, Nairobi Campus Principal Mr. Joseph Ahomo, and HoD Health Professions Mrs. Jane Achola and healthcare professionals.
