KMTC Awarded for Research Efforts

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has been awarded by the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council for presenting the highest number of scientific papers at the first International Public Health Scientific Conference held at Pride Inn Paradise Hotel in Mombasa from 2nd – 5th April 2023.

KMTC’s impressive participation at the conference underscores its commitment to advancing the research mandate and the public health agenda in Kenya and beyond.

College CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch expressed his delight, and assured that KMTC will continue to support and play a key role in developing practical public health solutions through training, research, and consultancy. 

“KMTC trains public health officers and technicians at certificate, diploma and higher diploma levels across its campuses,” the CEO reported, adding, the College also trains nutritionists and dieticians, community health assistants and officers as well as other cadres that support healthcare service delivery at the primary level.

The aim of the conference is to offer a platform for the dissemination of public health knowledge, experience, and technology to inform evidence-based decision-making at policy and service delivery levels.

Notable guests at the conference were the Health Cabinet Secretary Ms. Susan Nakhumicha, Principal Secretary State Department for Health Standards and Professional Management Dr. Josephine Mburu and Ag. Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth. 

Others were the Council of Governors Chair of the Health Committee Governor Muthomi Njuki, Senate Chair of the Health Committee Hon. Sen. Jackson Mandago among other key guests.
