KMTC CEO COMMENDS STAFF DEDICATION, OUTLINES PLANS TO STRENGTHEN TRAINING

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) CEO, Dr. Kelly Oluoch, has lauded the commitment and resilience of staff at Bondo Campus, acknowledging their dedication to delivering quality training despite resource constraints.

He also outlined strategic measures to address staffing and financial challenges to enhance service delivery.

Speaking during a project inspection visit on January 31, 2025, Dr. Oluoch expressed appreciation for the staff’s unwavering efforts.

“Thank you for welcoming me to Bondo Campus. It is remarkable how you continue to go the extra mile to uphold our training mandate, even in the face of challenges,” he said.

Dr. Oluoch acknowledged that staffing shortages and financial limitations have placed significant demands on lecturers, many of whom handle multiple classes daily. However, he reassured them that the College remains committed to maintaining high training standards.

To ease the workload, he highlighted recent and planned recruitment efforts.

“Last year, we recruited 600 staff members to support our growing student population. Additionally, H.E. President Dr. William Ruto has pledged Kshs. 600 million in the next financial year to facilitate the hiring of 400 more staff,” he announced.

While noting the impact of budgetary constraints, Dr. Oluoch reassured employees that salary payments would remain unaffected. However, he emphasized the need for prudent financial management, as the College navigates an evolving economic landscape.

Looking ahead, he reiterated KMTC’s commitment to continually integrate technology into training. He announced that select courses would be offered online to expand access to learning, with ongoing investments to enhance internet connectivity across all campuses.

He urged staff to uphold professionalism, discipline, and commitment as KMTC continues to adapt to emerging educational and healthcare needs.
