KMTC KICKS OFF ZONAL SPORTS COMPETITIONS

The College commenced its zonal sports competitions on Monday, March 3, 2025, bringing together students for a weeklong event featuring various sporting activities, including football, volleyball, rugby, and athletics.

The CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch, together with Murang’a County Deputy Governor, Hon. Stephen Mburu, officially flagged off the Zone Four competitions at Murang’a Teachers Training College.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Mburu welcomed the initiative, noting KMTC’s significant partnership with the county.

“I want to assure you of our commitment to supporting your students in accessing clinical placement sites within the county,” he said.

He further highlighted the county’s continued support in providing trainers to the College, reaffirming its dedication to improving healthcare services.

To strengthen this collaboration, the Deputy Governor announced plans to formalize the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

On his part, Dr. Oluoch expressed gratitude to the county for its continued support and encouraged students to take advantage of the event to develop their sporting talents.

“Beyond academics, we nurture sporting talents to ensure holistic student development,” he said.

He further urged students to actively participate in extracurricular activities such as sports and clubs, emphasizing their role in personal growth and mental well-being.

“Mental health is a growing concern in the country, and engaging in such activities plays a crucial role in maintaining overall wellness,” he added.

Teams that qualify at the zonal level will proceed to compete at the regional stage.
