KMTC MARKS SCIENCE WEEK WITH FOCUS ON RESEARCH, TECHNOLOGY, AND INNOV ATION
Students and staff from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) came together for a vibrant celebration of Science Week, held from March 10 to 14, 2025, across all Campuses.
Themed “To Build a Strong Research Culture that Promotes Research, Technology, and Innovation in the College,” this year’s Science Week aligned with KMTC’s broader Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) strategy, which seeks to strengthen research capacity and encourage knowledge sharing within the health training ecosystem.
The week-long event featured a rich mix of activities including proposal writing workshops, grant application training, research dissemination sessions, and interactive discussions centered on the College’s Strategic Plan.
Students were at the heart of these engagements, gaining hands-on exposure to research processes and developing skills critical to innovation in healthcare.
“Science Week is a key pillar in strengthening our research culture and capacity,” said CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch.
“We were honored to host a wide range of activities. It was encouraging to see students take center stage in showcasing their research projects and innovations,” he added.
A major highlight of the event was the career talks session, where distinguished KMTC alumni shared insights from their experiences in the health industry. They engaged students on career opportunities, job market trends, and strategies for professional growth in the ever-evolving health sector.
The event also provided a platform for collaboration among teaching and non-teaching staff, alumni, partners, and other stakeholders, reinforcing the College’s commitment to advancing Research, Science, Technology, and Innovation (RSTI).
Through these activities, KMTC continues to inspire the next generation of health professionals to embrace science and innovation as powerful tools in addressing current and emerging health challenges.
