KMTC Students Biggest Winners as College kicks off construction of 300 capacity hostels
Former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga has lauded Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) for producing competent health workers for the country.
He was speaking during the laying of a foundation stone for the construction of Teso Campus hostels on Friday, 25th March 2022.
“Well trained and qualified health care professionals are a cornerstone of a health system needed in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for the country,” he said.
He commended the area, MP Hon. Oku Kaunya, through whose initiative the Campus came into being, noting that the impact of such an initiative will be felt in generations to come.
Rt. Odinga promised to continue supporting the College in its growth and development.
KMTC Board Chairperson Amb. Zachary Muburi-Muita thanked Mr. Odinga for being a dedicated friend of the College and providing support towards
its growth, thereby enabling the College to realize its mandate.
“Similarly, I want to thank the Government for the support given to the Board to provide strategic leadership. With this, the College is recording tremendous achievements,” he said.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kelly Oluoch termed the occasion as a fulfilment of a long-held wish, noting that the 300 capacity hostels would go a long way in ensuring convenience for students as they undertake their training on the Campus.
In attendance included Teso North MP Hon. Oku Kaunya, Busia County Governor Hon. Sospeter Ojaamong and several elected leaders from the region.
Others present were KMTC Principals Mr. Daniel Kurui (Teso), Ms. Gladys Motende (Ugenya), Dr. Anthony Radol (Busia), Mr. Peterson Osangale (Kakamega) and Deputy Principals Ms. Celestine Mbanda (Webuye), Mr. Mwololo (Siaya), and Mr. Herbert Urumbe (Bungoma).
