KMTC TO RECEIVE KSHS 600 MILLION FOR STAFF RECRUITMENT

The College is set to receive Kshs. 600 million from the National Treasury to recruit additional staff and strengthen health training in the country.

This announcement was made by H.E. President Dr. William Ruto on January 9, 2025, during the commissioning of KMTC Kerio Valley Campus.

Last year, the government released Kshs. 800 million, facilitating the recruitment of 600 staff members.

“KMTC is offering Kenyans opportunities to acquire the training needed to help the government achieve its Taifa Care and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda,” President Ruto said.

The President also revealed that KMTC students will benefit from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) scheme in the next budget.

“KMTC has been a beneficiary of HELB; however, budget cuts have significantly impacted needy students. For this reason, we are reinstating the funding beginning the next financial year,” he noted.

In addition, Dr. Ruto pledged to construct 300-capacity hostels to provide students with a conducive living environment while pursuing their studies.

The President was accompanied by several leaders, including Cabinet Secretaries Dr. Deborah Barasa (Health), Kipchumba Murkomen (Interior), and Alice Wahome (Lands), as well as area MP Hon. Kangogo Bowen, among others.

Hon. Bowen revealed that the College has been constructed at a cost of Kshs 90 million through the Marakwet East and West National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).

Earlier, Board Chairperson Mr. Joseah K. Cheruiyot and CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch, while addressing staff and students from neighboring campuses, reiterated their commitment to enhancing the quality of training at KMTC.
