Nyandarua Campus Joins County in Celebrating Cultural Day

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) urged the County Government of Nyandarua to allocate additional resources toward equipping the KMTC Nyandarua Campus.

This call was made on July 5, 2024, during the Resource Mobilization-cum-Cultural Day hosted by the County Government to explore potential partnerships and cooperation.

The event drew significant attention, bringing together the Campus community and the County Government leadership, including 28 Members of the County Assembly from the region.

In his remarks, CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch advocated for the secondment of lecturers and emphasized the importance of bursary allocations for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

He noted that KMTC is renowned for producing competent health professionals and urged Kenyans interested in its programs to enroll and study.

“We are currently enrolling students for the September 2024 intake and we encourage all interested Kenyans to apply,” he said in a statement by the Registrar, Mr. Ronald Wasike.

Nyandarua Senator Hon. John Methu expressed the pride of Nyandarua County in hosting two KMTC Campuses – Kinangop and Nyandarua.

He highlighted these Campuses’ economic benefits to local residents, including job opportunities and economic development.

Senator Methu outlined a comprehensive series of commitments from the County aimed at enhancing KMTC. These commitments include infrastructural support, providing financial aid for students, and upgrading JM Kariuki County Referral Hospital to a Level 6 facility to offer more spaces for KMTC students undertaking their clinical practicals.

The event was also attended by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Roads and Infrastructure Mr. Peter Ng’ang’a, Head of Intergovernmental Relations Dr. Leah Bii, Nyandarua Principal Mrs. Winfred Nguih, and Principal of Kinangop Campus Mr. Peter Guchu.
