President Ruto Commissions KMTC Marimanti Campus

HE. President Dr. William Ruto on Thursday, July 25, 2024 unveiled the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Marimanti Campus in Tharaka Nithi County.

The President was accompanied by his Deputy, HE. Rigathi Gachagua, and a host of other leaders.

During the occasion, the President congratulated area MP Murugara Gitonga for allocating resources towards the construction of the Campus.

He noted that the government remains committed to ensuring that healthcare workers are adequately trained to deliver the country’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.

“We want to make health universally accessible to all Kenyans. That is why we have changed the law to underpin the UHC,” he said.

Dr. Ruto also pledged an additional Kshs. 30 million for the construction of hostels.

Present at the event were Interior CS nominee Kithure Kindiki, Governor Muthomi Njuki, and MPs Patrick Munene (Chuka Igamba Ng’ombe), Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), among other leaders.

Earlier, KMTC Board Chairperson Mr. Joseah K. Cheruiyot, who addressed students of the Chuka and Meru Campuses, pledged to continue providing resources to expand the College’s facilities for quality learning. He, however, challenged students to maintain discipline, noting that the College leadership is committed to meeting their academic needs.

Mr. Cheruiyot was flanked by Board Directors Hardlyne Lusui and Eunice Karanja.

CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch challenged the students to utilize the opportunity presented to them to study and excel in their careers.

He noted that KMTC graduates are highly sought after in the job market and urged students to take advantage of the opportunity to access local and international jobs.
