President Ruto opens KMTC Chemolingot
H.E. President Dr. William Ruto on Friday, August 2, 2024, officially opened the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Chemolingot Campus in Baringo County.
The President directed the Ministry of Health to introduce additional courses at the College to create more learning opportunities.
“For this to happen, a hostel with a capacity of 150 will be built. In this regard, the government will allocate Kshs. 250 million for this purpose, along with equipping two other existing technical colleges in the county,” he said.
Presently, the Campus, which admitted its first batch of students in 2021, offers a Community Health Assistant Course and has a student population of 69.
The President urged residents to shun negative cultural practices like cattle rustling, noting that it is stifling the region’s development.
“We have built KMTC and other technical training colleges in this region to educate your children and help them get decent jobs,” he said.
During the occasion, the President issued 2,700 title deeds to local residents.
Also present were Governor Benjamin Cheboi, Tiaty MP William Kamket, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Ms. Mary Muthoni, Board Chairperson Mr. Joseah K. Cheruiyot, CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch, and Board Directors Mr. Paul Cheboi and Mr. Adan Harakhe, among other leaders.
