Board enhances efforts to expand training opportunities, visits the proposed KMTC Cherangany
The KMTC Board of Directors on 18th February, 2020 visited the proposed Cherangany Campus to assess development progress and give recommendations on the way forward.
The visit was a follow up of another in May 2019, where the Board met with the area MP Hon. Joshua Kuttuny and other local leaders to discuss prospects of establishing a new Campus in the Constituency.
Board Chairman Prof. Kaloki reiterated the Board’s readiness to support and work with Hon. Kuttuny and the CDF committee. “We will work together to get the Campus up and running as part of our continued efforts to expand training opportunities for more qualified Kenyans,” the Chairman said.
He gave a list of requirements and assured that once these were in place, the Campus would be given the go ahead by the KMTC Board to start admitting students.
Trans-Nzoia East Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Abed Mwalwa appreciated the Board for their commitment to supporting the development and eventual establishment of a KMTC Campus in Cherangany. “Plans are at an advanced stage to set up a fully-fledged state of the art Campus in the area,” he reported.
In line with this, the Cherangany National Government Constituency Development Fund Manager Mr. George Okaro reported that Kshs. 130 Million had been factored in the budget for construction of the new Campus.
Board Directors Mr. Mithamo Muchiri, Mr. Frederick Wamwaki, CEO Prof. Michael Kiptoo, Principals Dr. Jeremiah Ngomo (Kakamega), Mr. James Koskei (Kitale), KMTC Western region coordinator Mr. David Yator and staff from the Headquarters were present during the visit.
