Bungoma County Government Pledges More Support to KMTC

The Bungoma County Government through Governor Hon. Kenneth Lusaka has pledged to support the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) to actualize its vision of being “a model institution in the training and development of competent health professionals.”

Speaking when he commissioned a tuition block and double cabin utility vehicle at KMTC Webuye on 3rd February 2023, Hon. Lusaka promised to immediately install security lights in and around the Campus to ensure that all students learn in a safe and secure environment.

Appreciating the Governor’s support for the immense support to the College, KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch reported that the College has set aside Kshs 680 million for disbursement to needy students through Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to facilitate their training at the Campus. “As the popular saying goes, it takes a village to bring up a child and therefore my request to our leaders is to contribute to this kitty to enable us support more students willing to train with us but are unable to due to financial constraints,” Dr. Oluoch added.

In response to the CEO’s request Hon. Lusaka pledges to work closely with Members of Parliament from the County to make sure that the needy students are facilitated and no one drops out of school for lack of fees.

Additionally, Tongaren MP Hon. John Murumba promised to support 150 students from his Constituency to undertake training at the College.

On the other hand, the area MP. Hon. Martin Wanyonyi Pepela promised to help the Campus construct a modern administration block through an allocation of Kshs 10 million from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF Kitty).

Present during the event were Bungoma County Deputy Governor Ms. Jennipher Mbatiany, MPs Hon. Didimus Barasa Kimilili Constituency), Jack Wamboga (Bumula Constituency), Majani Balala MCA Maraka Ward and other County Officials.

Others were KMTC Senior Managers Mr. David Ondeng and Mr. Elijah Mititi, KMTC Webuye Campus Principal Madam Lucy Chebungei, staff and students.
