Jhpiego President visits KMTC, pledges support

Jhpiego President and CEO Dr. Leslie Mancuso paid a courtesy call on the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch today (January 17, 2023) at the College headquarters in Nairobi.

The call was an opportunity to strengthen the longstanding collaboration between KMTC and Jhpiego, a non-profit organization for international health affiliated with Johns Hopkins University.

Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Oluoch acknowledged and extended deep appreciation for the generous support and assistance provided to the College over the years.

“As a training arm of the Government, we have a big mandate of producing a skilled health workforce to bridge human resources for health towards the realization of Universal Health Coverage,” he said.

“This is a mandate we can only achieve through collaboration, and we sincerely thank Jhpiego for extending their support around building capacities of our lecturers and providing training equipment.”

On her part, Dr. Mancuso commended the College’s forward-looking approach to providing a skilled health workforce for local and international markets, noting that the sector is banking on innovative ideas to tackle emerging health challenges.

“As Jhpiego, we remain committed to supporting ideas that ensure women and children have access to quality healthcare. We will continue to work closely with partners like KMTC in realizing this objective,” she said.

The visit concluded with the delegation touring the skills and simulation laboratories at the Nairobi Campus.
