Joy as KMTC Othaya Campus receives a vehicle
Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Othaya Campus students could not hide their smiles after they received a vehicle on Monday, January 23, 2022.
The College in recent months embarked on equipping its facilities with free teaching equipment, transport vehicles, enhanced infrastructural development, among others in a bid to boost learning.
KMTC Board Chairperson Amb. Zachary Muburi-Muita said the Board is committed to upholding international training standards in the College for production of a global healthcare workforce.
“We have today met with the Nyeri County Governor Hon. Mutahi Kahiga, who has pledged his support by continuing to avail the County’s health facilities to provide attachment and practical experience for students,” he reported.
The Chairperson indicated that in addition to the County support, the area MP Hon. Michael Wainaina, who was represented at the event by his Personal Assistant Mr. Macharia, had promised to support the growth of the Campus.
CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch lauded the support from the County, terming the partnership a fruitful one.
“In the same spirit, I wish to thank the KMTC Board of Directors for allocating resources for the ongoing construction of a tuition block consisting of six classrooms and an ablution block,” he said.
He noted that KMTC students will benefit from the infrastructural development projects across the Campuses.
Dr. Oluoch revealed that KMTC students who applied for Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) are set to receive the disbursement in the next two weeks.
The Campus, established in 2016, has enjoyed a lot of community support with the land on which it sits having been donated by the local community.
Also present at the event were KMTC Board Directors Ms. Jeniffer Kibagendi, and Mr. Fred Wamwaki, and senior Managers Dr. Leah Bii and Ms. Lucy Kuria, among others.
