KMTC Earns Top Honors in Public Sector Digital Transformation

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) achieved a significant milestone today by clinching a prestigious award for its outstanding performance in public sector digital transformation.

The recognition was bestowed upon KMTC during the inaugural Ministry of Information, Communications, and Digital Economy (MoICDE) Digital Transformation Public Sector Forum and Awards 2024 in Mombasa.

Securing the top position in the Digital Innovation category within the education sector, KMTC beat formidable contenders, Kenyatta University and the Teachers Service Commission.

The event, organized under the auspices of the MoICDE in Kenya and Greydale Africa, serves as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate public sector organizations that consistently harness technology to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, transparency, and service delivery to Kenyan citizens.

KMTC’s success was attributed to its pioneering initiatives, notably the implementation of cutting-edge simulation and e-learning facilities, alongside comprehensive digitalization of its service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Expressing his gratitude upon receiving the good news, CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch emphasized that the award reaffirms KMTC’s standing as a leading government entity in digital transformation.

Dr. Oluoch further stated, “Our commitment to the digitalization of services is solid, as we strive to provide the best services to our clients.”

While singling out the important role played by ICT in the College’s digital transformation agenda, Dr. Oluoch thanked the department led by Manager Dr. Kenneth Riany.

He also extended his appreciation to the Board, management team, staff, and students for their steadfast support.

The award ceremony was graced by the MoICDE Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Eliud Owalo.

Other categories awarded include Digital Innovation in healthcare, agriculture, energy, and financial services sectors, as well as Digital Citizen Engagement 2024, Digital Upskilling 2024, and Data Security and Privacy Innovation, among others.
