KMTC hosts a delegation from Book Aid International; Seeks to deepen partnership

The Kenya Medical Training College Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Kelly Oluoch has conveyed the College’s intention to deepen its partnership with Book Aid International to promote teaching and learning. 

The CEO was speaking when he hosted a delegation from the organization when they paid him a courtesy call on Monday, 13th March 2023, at the KMTC Headquarters in Nairobi.

“The support through the donation of reading materials from Book Aid International has been critical in enhancing the quality of education offered at KMTC, “the CEO said, adding, “We are grateful for the partnership, which has enabled us to provide our students with relevant and up-to-date learning resources.”

In March last year, Book Aid International and Elsevier donated to the College books valued at Ksh 22 million.

Chair of the Board of Trustees for Book Aid International Dr. Alice Prochaska reiterated the organization’s commitment to supporting KMTC, saying, “Book Aid International is proud to have been supporting KMTC for over ten years. We are committed to continuing this partnership and providing the necessary reading materials to support the education and professional development of students at the College.” 

Since 2010, Elsevier, which is Book Aid International’s largest donor of medical books, has supported KMTC to the tune of Kshs 50.7 million in books donation.

On her part, Book Aid International Chief Executive Officer Ms. Alison reported in a tweet message, “We believe that access to books and learning resources is a fundamental right. Our partnership with KMTC has enabled us to provide books to thousands of students, helping to improve their academic performance. We look forward to continuing this important work with KMTC.”

The visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the two organizations and exploring ways to continue supporting the College with reading materials.

The visit concluded with both organizations expressing a commitment to work together towards a common goal of providing quality education to students at KMTC and thereby, improving the health standards in the country.
