KMTC CEO Lauds Principals, Encourages Multi-skilling of Trainees

The Kenya Medical Training College Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kelly Oluoch has lauded

KMTC Principals across the country for their stewardship, enabling the College to maintain and enhance high-quality training.

The CEO was speaking during the quarterly Academic Council meeting that took place from 8th – 9th March 2023 at the KMTC Nairobi Nursing Assembly hall.

Dr. Oluoch reported that KMTC was moving towards ensuring its students are multi-skilled to give them an edge in the competitive job market.

“Further, the College will seek to host international workshops to provide students with the opportunity to network with professionals and peers from different countries and cultural

backgrounds,” the CEO highlighted, adding that, “this will allow students to stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in their field of study and can lead to new opportunities for research collaborations, internships, and job offers.”

To further enhance teaching and learning, Dr. Oluoch encouraged the Principals to engage in partnerships with their respective County Governments as well as other key development

partners.

Additionally, the CEO encouraged Principals to invest in sports activities in the College to improve interaction as well as help the students to keep fit.

With the growing demand for KMTC graduates across the globe, the College is eyeing the setting up of a language center that will see students learn German, French, and English languages among others to impart migrating workers with visa application skills.

Kapenguria Campus Principal and Chairperson of the Principal’s forum Mr. Ezekiel Kandagor conveyed the Principals’ gratitude for the timely disbursement of funds and purchase of learning

materials, allowing Campuses to run smoothly.

The Academic Council consists of Managers, Principals, and Academic Heads of Department. It is entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding KMTC’s place as the preferred institution of training for middle-level health professionals, by continuously auditing processes and systems and proactively finding solutions for any foreseen and unforeseen challenges.
