College and Equity Bank plants 5000 trees to mark World Healing Day
The Kenya Medical Training (KMTC), in partnership with Equity Bank Thursday (May 5, 2022), planted 5000 trees at the Karen Campus to mark this year’s World Healing Day.
The College has entered into a partnership with the bank to plant 10,000 trees to support efforts by the Government to increase forest cover in the country.
Speaking during the ceremony, Ag. CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch emphasized the need to focus on the environment to tackle climate change in the country.
“As a government institution, we remain committed to accelerating the achievement of the Constitutional target of 10% tree cover of the national land area as provided under Article 69 (1),” he said.
He challenged both staff and students to take it upon themselves to adopt and maintain a tree.
The College supports efforts to give back to society through various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, among them: Environmental conservation, Health and medical services, social upliftment, Education and Disaster response.
Equity Bank Milimani Supreme Branch was represented by the Customer Service Manager, Ms. Charity Korir and Payment Manager, Mr. Francis Gatheru.
Ms. Korir appreciated the partnership with the College, noting that the company has a target of planting 3.5 million trees.
Mr. Gatheru revealed that the bank is in talks with the College to expand the partnership to include financial support for the students and financial advice to staff.
