High hopes as President Ruto commissions skills laboratory at KMTC Maua

President Dr. William Ruto inaugurated the skills laboratory at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Maua satellite Campus on Friday, January 26, 2024, during his development tour of Meru County.

Expressing satisfaction with the progress at KMTC Maua Campus, President Ruto commended the College’s dedication to producing more healthcare professionals for the nation.

Pledging further support, Dr. Ruto committed to constructing hostels for students and providing a bus to facilitate their transportation to clinical practical sites.

He emphasized the importance of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and KMTC’s role in training frontline health workers to make critical health services readily available.

President Ruto assured an increase in staffing levels at the Campus, with PS Muthoni tasked with overseeing the implementation of this initiative.

His Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, and other government dignitaries accompanied him during the commissioning.

KMTC Board Chairperson Mr. Joseah K. Cheruiyot and CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch received President Ruto.

Earlier in the day Dr. Oluoch addressed students, reaffirming the College’s commitment to their academic success.

“We are committed to ensuring a conducive learning environment, and nothing should stop you from pursuing your dreams,” Dr. Oluoch assured.

Also present during the launch were KMTC Campus Principals Samuel Maina Njagi (Meru), Patrick Njagi (Chuka), Evelyn Njeru (Embu), and Thomas Muange (Imenti).
